It’s not very often that you can earn ‘owt for nowt’ but there are some websites where you can do just that. They aren’t, despite appearances, scams – instead they’re funded by advertising and by their ability to use their large customer bases to flog offers etc. Welcome to the world of internet lotteries.
It’s fairly simple:
- Check the website daily (I recommend setting an alarm/reminder on your phone so that you don’t forget to check. If you win and don’t claim then you’ve lost your prize).
- Cross your fingers
It’s worth setting up an email address that you can use for earning money. It helps to have one to separate your earning activities – you’ll get an email, for example, from the Postcode Lottery every day reminding you to check the draw. As you sign up for more survey sites, lottery sites it will increase the number of notifications you’ll receive.
All you have to do is to sign up using one of your social media accounts (Facebook, instagram etc), share a ‘selfie’ and you’ll be entered into the daily draw. Every day you log in to the website earns you a 50p bonus, and once you’ve referred one friend then the jackpot gets doubled. The draw takes place daily at noon.

Free Postcode Lottery*
The Free Postcode Lottery is probably the longest running online ‘lottery’ website. They have several different draws with varying levels of prizes. The main draw is at least £100 daily where as the loyalty draw can be as low as £5. It’s easy to sign up – you just need an email address and to put your postcode in then you’re away. The draws get refreshed at 9am and 9pm.

The Street Lottery*
The Street Lottery is a new kid on the block. It’s set up and run by one of the members over at The Money Shed. It works in a very similar way to the Free Postcode Lottery, you enter your house number and your street name and then one is drawn at random each day. There’s a bonus monthly draw and there is also a bonus scheme in place for referring new members. The site works in dollars but you get paid via PayPal so it’s an easy process to convert to GBP.
